My husband & I (now 78) climbed the Acropolis in Greece this past February, and we experienced that same feeling. Not sure we'd make it to the top, but we kept going & we made it, very gleefully! Tired yes, but thrilled to be there.
How wonderful, and we can all go at our own pace as we are not in a race with anyone. My mum had a fall, bad cut to her head and I spoke with the A&E doctor about her return home. She is not getting any additional support as she will then rely on carers and go downhill. A good point of view, we need to keep going.
Ha ha. Just yesterday I decided to train for a month to work up to 16km 3 days in a row because I want to do some pack free walks over a number of days. I’m pretty good at walking and climbing stairs but just need to prove it to myself scientifically. I feel concerned at 70 that I might be turned down. I needed the boost I got from your post.
Yay!! that is so wonderful to know. We all have different challenges. I've been working towards getting up off the floor with ease so at a dry music festival I can sit on the floor, not take a folding chair and get up ok.
I watched that film too, some years ago, and was inspired by it. You've prompted me to watch it again, from my new perspective of wanting to embrace ageing. (The last time I watched it I don't think I thought I was getting old!)
I hadn't seen the film before, but had saved it on my recorder. Scrolling thorugh I found it and was so inspired. The video about the film was fascinating too. Maybe one day me and you can go up Sulivan - for our 70th maybe, as we are close in age aren't we. I do want to come to Scotland to do the NC500

Hope your mum finds a way to keep going! ♥️
I hope so too and I think this is sound advice, don't give up, keep going
